Oh, My Nola is the 2007 CD by jazz musician and singer Harry Connick, Jr.. Done in honor of the people and spirit of Nola after Hurricane Katrina buttfucked the region, this was released on 30 January, 2007, featuring songs that represent what Nola is about. This was released by Columbia Records.

Since the charismatic vocalist posted his first raw home videos of himself singing Michael Buble and Frank Sinatra classics to YouTube in 2007, he has amassed over 5 million views worldwide for over 70 clips – including the professionally shot, James Bond themed original “What You’ve Given” (over 150,000 views alone!) The Michigan native has also become one of the Motor City’s premiere live entertainers, with hundreds of performances at jazz hotspots like Cliff Bell’s and a five year and counting residency at the Axis Lounge at the MGM Grand Detroit.

It is very difficult to review this collection of Ella Fitzgerald singing jazz greats without piling on superlatives. I've never before owned even a single CD where every cut pleased me. In this collection are 83 songs everyone a winner. According to the enclosed wonderfully illustrated 50 page booklet there are some songs were Ella is not at her best, were arrangements don't quite work. I lack the musical chops to accept or challenge these criticisms. As someone who is listening for pleasure rather than technical experience I found myself enjoying song after song.

“Connections is really about this idea of community, of musicians and family and everyone really, coming back together after being separated for so long,” Whitaker says. “It’s about how grateful I am for the connections we have with each other musically and spiritually as well. More than my other albums, this one has music that was created in the studio, improv moments that happened live. A few of these songs I wrote during the pandemic so I’m happy we were able to record those, and I’m excited. This is more expansive than anything else I’ve done!”

An accomplished versatile virtuoso baritone saxophone player, Chicago native Dave Schumacher has been a mainstay on the New York jazz scene for more than forty years. His big, bold baritone first came to international attention during the eighties, spending much of those years touring the world with Lionel Hampton’s Orchestra. Schumacher garnered further notice following that with nearly two decades as a member of the orchestra of Harry Connick, Jr. In the 90's he also toured with T.S. Monk’s Monk on Monk band and the Tom Harrell Octet, as well as freelance work with many others in New York and on the road.
