Some classic rock reunions are driven by marketing, some driven by a desperate need to reconnect to the past, some exist merely for the music. Red Velvet Car, Heart’s first album since 2004’s Jupiter’s Darling, belongs to the latter camp: it’s music with no seeming commercial aspirations, music that is connected to the past but doesn’t strive to replicate it…

2012 has been quite a year for Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson. In June, the multi-disc box set retrospective Strange Euphoria was released. It was followed in September by the publication of their memoir, Kicking & Dreaming: A Story of Heart, Soul and Rock and Roll. And in October comes Fanatic, a brand new studio offering…

In this segment of the Red Norvo story, the xylophonist's collaborations with his wife, Mildred Bailey, predominate. This was a fine jazz orchestra with excellent soloists. One great and glowing jewel in the band was clarinetist Hank D'Amico, and Norvo's sparkling percussive passages are always a delight. Each of the five instrumental tracks resound with that fascinating combination of xylophone and big band, tidy brass over solidly arranged reeds, and - beginning in January of 1938 - precision drumming by George Wettling, that mainstay of Eddie Condon and his Commodore jam bands. With 16 out of 24 tracks serving as features for Bailey's pleasant vocals, this package will satisfy anyone who has a taste for her style and personality…

Naïve Art is the debut album by San Diego (by way of Liverpool) synth-pop duo Red Flag, consisting of brothers Chris and Mark Reynolds. This is the 30th Anniversary reissue of the CD which has not been available since 2001. It contains all original versions from the initial release in 1989 along with 18 additional bonus tracks. This reissue is far different from the 2001 Restless reissue which was only one CD and the songs were severely edited and over compressed. This has been remedied for this new re-release. The second disc also contains many of the remixes that were released separately on Naive Dance compilation in 1990. It also contains some very hard to find remixes of Russian Radio, Broken Heart and an early track called Control, which sounds amazing.

Four CDs. The first comprehensive overview of the band's initial run which technically began with Cherry Red issuing the band's debut single 'Chenko' in 1983. For this box set frontman and mainstay Simon Toulson-Clarke undertook a deep dive into his archives and discovered 11 previously unreleased demos from 1980-1982. As well as the previously unreleased audio, Simon was also able to provide a treasure trove of unseen photos from the very earliest days of the band all the way through to 1990. Disc One contains the band's debut album 'The Circle & the Square' as well as seven bonus tracks that include both sides of their debut single as well as other rarities. Disc Two includes sophomore album 'Motive' as well as five rare bonus tracks. Disc Three is comprised of 12 hard to find alternative mixes including Paul Oakenfold's remix of 'Enjoy'. Disc Four contains the eleven previously unreleased demos from 1980-1982. Red Box initially came to prominence in the 1980s with UK Top Ten hits 'Lean on Me (Ah-Li- Ayo)' in 1985 and 'For America' in 1986. Both of these tracks were included on debut album 'The Circle & the Square' in 1986 (WEA), which would be followed by 1990's 'Motive' (EastWest), with no further albums forthcoming until 'Plenty' (2010) on Cherry Red Records.
