Hayes McMullan was an American Delta blues singer, guitarist and songwriter. He was also employed at various times as a sharecropper and as a deacon and was a civil rights activist. McMullan's first major recorded work was released in February 2017, over 30 years after his death, and was drawn from recordings he made in 1967 and 1968 in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi.

François Couperin's 'Leçons de Ténèbres' (c. 1713-17), a setting of the Lamentations of Jeremiah, fused devotional expression with a dramatic performing style embodied here by sopranos Lucy Crowe and Elizabeth Watts. While Ringo would pen a number of hits in the first years of his solo career – "It Don't Come Easy" and "Back Off Boogaloo," his first two U.K. Top Tens, were written by him alone – he'd soon rely on a blend of covers, originals, and songs given to him by his wide circle of friends, colleagues, and admirers.
