Ottmar Liebert has become one of the most successful instrumental artists of the past decade, thrilling audiences throughout the world and releasing a catalog of classic recordings, including the remix collection Euphoria (1995), the live album Viva! (1995), the double CD Opium (1996) and the classical-oriented orchestral album Leaning into the Night (1997). He wrapped up his decade with Epic with 2001’s Little Wing and went back to Higher Octave Music, releasing a lush album of lullabies called In the Arms of Love in 2002 and an album with Luna Negra XL called The Santa Fe Sessions (2003).

All of the EKO albums are delightful. Each individual piece has a unique sound with an incredible array of instruments meshed just right, yet all the pieces integrate into a coherent theme for each album. EKO has a way of getting under your skin and you never get tired of it. I just wish there were more.

German guitarist, composer, and producer Ottmar Liebert rose to success in the 1990s with his Spanish-influenced, easy listening instrumental music that he initially described as "Nouveau Flamenco." Born in Cologne, West Germany, Liebert spent much of his youth traveling around Europe and Asia with his parents. After picking up the guitar at age 11, he developed an early interest in flamenco music, although it was a career in rock that would initially bring him to the United States. After plying his trade for a few years in Boston's early-'80s rock scene, he eventually settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where began to develop the instrumental guitar sound that would soon vault him to the top of the new age charts.
