1984 was a truly incredible year in pop music, and we have included more than 140 tracks on the CDs of the 1984 Yearbook, the 80-84 Final Chapter, and their extras so far in our appreciation of the year. Those tracks were generally the bigger hits of the year, with their chart achievement a factor in their inclusion – however – that’s not the whole singles story of the year, and our celebration of 1984 wouldn’t be complete without shining a light on some of the years’ singles that have been compiled much less frequently over the past 40 years. Welcome to THE VAULT for 1984… Some of the tracks included were Top 40 hits, some missed the chart completely. Some were representative of massive selling albums, and some were big hits in the U.S. and not in the U.K… but all are part of the wonderful pop story of 1984. 80 tracks across 4-CDs – NOW Yearbook – The Vault: 1984.

Time Life was founded in 1961 as the book division of Time Inc.. It took its name from Time Inc.'s cornerstone magazines, Time and Life, but remained independent of both. During 1966, Time Life combined its book offerings with music collections (two to five records) and packaged them as a sturdy box set. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, the selection of books, music and videos grew and was diversified into more genres. When record labels stopped producing vinyl albums in 1990, Time Life switched to CD only. In the mid-1990s, Time Life acquired Heartland Music, with the Heartland Music label now appearing as a brand. This company was subsequently sold off and is no longer attached to Time Life.

During the years 1994-1996 Time-Life produced a CD & Magazine called "Grooves". Veteran New York City DJ Vin Scelsa was given full control of the project, and a total of 14 wonderful issues were produced. They each highlighted Vin's selections of the best tracks from the best new albums/artists of the time. In addition, the last track on every CD was a bonus acoustic track by one of the featured artists recorded in the studio just for "Grooves". It was the next best thing to listening to Vin's radio show, "Idiot's Delight".

Rock n Roll is better than a permanent job. – a classic statement by Kal P Dal, a legendary Swedish Rock’n’Roll star from the Seventies, way before the boys in Jetbone were even born. For six years Jetbone tried to combine touring with studies and work, before realizing that Kal P Dal was absolutely right. They all quit their day time jobs, gave up apartments, said goodbye to their girlfriends and agreed to do 200 gigs in 2017. While recording their forthcoming third album. Now it’s 2018: The ambitious plan and the hard work has paid off. Jetbone signed a worldwide recording and publishing deal with BMG for their upcoming 3rd album “Come Out And Play”, to be released on 20 April 2018.

Red Rose Speedway was released in 1973 to what can only be described as a turgidly tepid reception by both rock critics and fans alike, and has largely, even by McCartney fanatics, been relegated to a rating slightly higher than forgettable. Now whilst this album has its detractors and defenders, me being both, the real tragedy behind this album’s release is that we only got half of the content upon release.
