The original, genuine and best selling Pop-Classical crossover. Hooked on Classics was the first of a series of albums first released in 1981 and featuring the worldwide hit single that bears the same nomenclature. ELO arranger Louis Clark conducts a moonlighting Royal Philharmonic Orchestra playing hooks from well-known classical pieces set to an up-tempo dance beat. Features not only the original 'Hooked On Classics' album but also the two follow ups 'Can't Stop The Classics' and ' Journey Through The Classics'.

The Hooked on Classics series consists of arrangements of classical favorites, with an added, pronounced beat, giving the music a rock or disco flavor. The series was the brainchild of Louis Clark, who had been the arranger for Electric Light Orchestra, and who conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Many of the numerous Hooked on … albums became crossover best-sellers.

Hooked on Classics 4: Baroque is an album by the New World Ensemble, published as part of the Hooked on Classics series. Hooked on Classics 4 - Baroque differs from the previous three Hooked on Classics albums in that it is not performed by the same group or conductor. The first three were released by RCA Records and performed by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (Louis Clark, conductor).
