An early and influential band in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement, Raven are a group whose lean, tough sound helped anticipate the rise of thrash metal, though they preferred to describe their energetic and physical sound as "athletic rock," inspired in part by their habit of wearing sports gear on-stage. Emerging in the late 1970s, Raven played with the raw energy and reckless power that epitomized the NWBHM, and rode the crest of that movement with their 1981 album Rock Until You Drop, which is still considered a classic of the genre. The band struggled to adapt to the '80s pop-metal scene, and eventually returned to the no-frills, high-energy denim and leather sound that first won them favor.

Los Angeles-based experimental jazz collective High Pulp release their new album Days In The Desert. The titular desert is both literal and metaphorical: it's the Mojave Desert that the band powers through on their many DIY tours around the country, and the band's founder / drummer Bobby Granfelt perceives the desert as "a spiritual quest" as well. Amid the trials of our present moment, you must look within, relying solely on your own instincts to keep moving forward. "You're in the desert and it's a long, lonesome process and a lot of times you have to check yourself to ask 'Is this right? Is this good? Is it too out?'" he says.

After the previous release "The Sky Is The Limit", Norwegian band Stargazer entered the radar of connoisseurs of the hard rocking world. The group was loudly hailed as one to watch. They received a lot of great reviews all over the western world and were, back then in late 2019, ready to take on the world for serious touring. But serious touring saw an abrupt end due to Covid-19 for almost every band in 2020-21, with Stargazer being no exception. The nordic five-piece didn't loose its spirit and, diligently, took the downtime to start penning the next album.
