Over the course of the last three decades, Saga remains one of the leading bands in melodic progressive rock music. Albums like Silent Knight, Heads Or Tales and Worlds Apart are milestones in the history of refined rock music and still haven't lost any of their magic. The current double CD / double DVD of Worlds Apart Revisited contains a full live concert recording (from Pratteln, Switzerland, December 8th, 2005) and features a cross-section track list culled from albums throughout their entire career.
Richard Wagner, the most controversial figure the arts have ever seen, whose music can move and overwhelm like no other, continues to divide the spirits even today. The year 2013, when we celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth, is inevitably going to be devoted to the man and his work.
The Complete Wagner Operas offers the best of Deutsche Grammophon, two operas each from Decca and the BBC and EMIs Rienzi.
The five CDs in this box set comprise 106 wonderful songs from what truly are the greatest musicals of the 20th Century. While the artists are not the ones you'd immediately recognize from the movie versions of these productions, they are nevertheless top-notch and probably were in the casts of the stage shows. So far, I haven't heard a single one that wasn't excellent. For those who love songs from great musicals, this is surely one of the great bargains of the 20th Century.
