Oh What a Feeling: A Vital Collection of Canadian Music is a 4-CD box set released in 1996 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Juno Awards. A second box set, Oh What a Feeling 2, was released in 2001 to mark the awards' 30th anniversary, and a third set, Oh What a Feeling 3, was released in 2006 for the 35th anniversary. All of the sets feature popular Canadian songs from the 1960s onward. The sets were titled for the song "Oh What a Feeling" by rock band Crowbar. The original 25th anniversary box set peaked at #3 on the Canadian Albums Chart and was certified Diamond in Canada.

Jan & Dean’s “Laurel & Hardy” is a bizarre, 1968 45 release that’s included here for reasons completely unknown. Bolstered by an electric sitar and a psychedelicized arrangement, the song had never appeared on an LP before showing up on The Force. Dr. Demento (Barry Hansen), who compiled and annotated this collection, calls it “an exquisite rarity,” and one can’t help but think the good Doctor included the oddity here solely for his own amusement. The song wouldn’t surface again until the 2010 ‘lost album’ issue of Jan & Dean’s Carnival Of Sound.

Score composer Bear McCreary was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on February 17, 1979, the son of the writer Laura Kalpakian. He obtained degrees in composition and recording arts from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California and became a protégé of film composer Elmer Bernstein, for whom he reconstructed and reorchestrated the score for the 1963 film Kings of the Sun, resulting in a new recording of the music.
