Pop icon Marti Pellow has announced details of his new solo album and UK tour. Entitled Mysterious, the album, which is due to be released on the Arctic Poppy label on March 10th 2017, was recorded at the legendary Ocean Way Studios in Los Angeles and features long term collaborator Grant Mitchell (Eric Clapton, Bee Gees, Emile Sande), the legendary Tower Of Power horn section (Santana, Grateful Dead, Little Feat, Aaron Neville) and Stevie Wonder’s rhythm section (Lenny Castro, Dean Parks, Herman Matthews, Freddie Washington) who’ve also worked with musicians as diverse as Quincy Jones. Michael Jackson, The Crusaders and Elton John.

That was the idea in curator/ producer’s Siggi Loch’s mind when he suggested to Magnus Lindgren that he might look at re-tracing the footsteps of Herbie Mann. “Stockholm Underground” is a homage to the one of the greats of the jazz flute, and to his legendary 1969 album “Memphis Underground”, listed by Rolling Stone in 2013 in the “100 Best Jazz Albums” of all time.

This 12-CD set assembles, for the first time, all the recordings that the French conductor Louis Frémaux made (for EMI) with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra during his tenure as its Principal Conductor (1969-1978). These recordings helped to build the CBSO’s international reputation before the arrival of Simon Rattle as its Principal Conductor in 1980.
