In this Pawel Pawlikowski-directed drama set in 1960s Poland, an orphaned teenager planning to become a nun visits her aunt. When she learns that her birth parents were Jews who were killed during the Holocaust, she sets off on a journey of self-discovery.

Kobieta, stalinowska prokurator i sedzia, najpierw niechetnie poznaje siostrzenice. Odslania prawde o rodzinie i wyjasnia dziewczynie, iz ta jest Zydówka o imieniu Ida. Obie kobiety udaja sie w podróz w rodzinne strony, aby dowiedziec sie o losach ich rodziny. Postac Wandy (w jej roli Agata Kulesza) byla inspirowana m.in. postacia Heleny Wolinskiej.

Poland 1962 Anna is a novice, an orphan brought up by nuns in the convent. She has to see Wanda, the only living relative, before she takes her vows. Wanda tells Anna that Anna is Jewish. Both women start a journey not only to find their family tragic story, but who they really are and where they belong. They question their religions and ideas they believed in. Both are trying to go on living but only one of them can.

Polen im Jahr 1962. Die 18-jährige Anna (Agata Trzebuchowska), eine Waise, wurde von Nonnen im Kloster großgezogen. Bevor sie ihr Gelübde ablegt, muss sie Wanda (Agata Kulesza) besuchen, ihre einzige lebende Verwandte. Wanda erzählt Anna, dass sie Jüdin sei. Für beide Frauen beginnt eine Reise, die sie nicht nur zu ihrer tragischen Familiengeschichte führt, sondern ihnen auch zeigt, wer sie wirklich sind und wo sie hingehören. Sie hinterfragen ihre Religionen und die Ideale, an die sie geglaubt haben. Beide versuchen sie, ihr Leben weiterzuleben, aber nur eine von ihnen schafft es.

Ida Landsberg is a singer, pianist and songwriter, born in Berlin. Since 1998 Ida plays gigs as a jazz and bossa nova singer in clubs and venues, theatres, in the radio, at festivals and events both in Germany and Italy. EQ Music Singapore released her first two solo albums “Jazz Moments” with piano player Francesco Moraca, “Acoustic Bossa Nova” with guitarist Simone Salvatore – that was published again by Hitman Jazz (Thailand).
