Ilan Volkov

Alwynne Pritchard is a British composer, vocalist and performer whose work explores relationships between musical expression and the human voice and body. She has appeared as an actor, vocalist and physical performer in stage productions, as well as directing and developing choreography for her work. This recording combines seven works of different genres and styles to an eclectic portrait of Pritchard’s diverse outputs as a composer and performer. Performed by a collaboration of artists including: Klaus Steffes Holländer, The Norwegian Naval Forces’ Band, Bjarte Engeset, ensemble recherche, SWR Experimentalstudio, Alwynne Pritchard, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Ilan Volkov, Christian Dierstein, Victoria Johnson, Thorolf Thuestad, Children from the Philippine High School for the Arts.

This album of premiere recordings of works by Howard Skempton, including ‘Man and Bat’, the Piano Concerto, ‘The Moon is Flashing’ and ‘Eternity’s Sunrise’, features possibly the greatest baritone of our time Roderick Williams, the celebrated tenor James Gilchrist, leading chamber pianist TimHorton and the fantastic Ensemble 360.
