Impromptu

Charming young slacker Dell Hansard (Jon Carlo) is in love with beautiful girlfriend, Piper (Ashley C. Williams). The couple decides to take an extended camping trip and is out of contact with civilization for almost a week. While out in the remote site, Dell makes an impromptu proposal but is shot down, ending the trip on a sour note. On their way home from camping, they stop at a gas station, and are surprised to find signs reading “closed indefinitely due to the gas crisis”….

Encomium to Larry Hart (1895-1943), seen through the fictive eyes of his song-writing partner, Richard Rodgers (1902-1979): from their first meeting, through lean years and their breakthrough, to their successes on Broadway, London, and Hollywood. We see the fruits of Hart and Rodgers' collaboration - elaborately staged numbers from their plays, characters' visits to night clubs, and impromptu performances at parties. We also see Larry's scattered approach to life, his failed love with Peggy McNeil, his unhappiness, and Richard's successful wooing of Dorothy Feiner.

Presenting a vast chronicle of life on the remote Kurage Island, the film centres on the disgraced, superstitious, interbred Futori family and the Tokyo engineer sent to supervise the creation of a new well - an encounter which leads to both conflict and complicity in strange and powerful ways.

Sylvie, a young biologist, receives an impromptu visit from her brother who claims to have proof that their father was murdered by Walser, his right-hand man. Shaken, Sylvie pays a visit to Walser, now head of the company formerly belonging to her father, but he refuses to discuss the matter. Aware that her brother his planning to have his revenge, Sylvie acquires a gun and goes to Walser’s country house one evening. In a heated confrontation, the gun goes off accidentally, killing a young woman who was Walser’s secretary and lover. Walser’s reaction to the death appears inexplicable, until Sylvia finally discovers Walser’s motivation for killing her father…

Michael Clayton, a high-priced-law-firm's fixer, leaves a late-night poker game, gets a call to drive to Westchester, and watches his car blow up as he's taking an impromptu dawn walk through a field. Flash back four days. He owes a loan shark to cover his brother's debts (Michael's own gambling habits have left him virtually broke). His law firm is negotiating a high-stakes merger, and his firm's six-year defense of a conglomerate's pesticide use is at risk when one of the firm's top litigators goes off his meds and puts the case in jeopardy. While Michael is trying to fix things, someone decides to kill him. Who? Meanwhile, his son summarizes the plot of a dark fantasy novel.

Belated honeymooners Polly and Ray Cutler arrive at their Niagara Falls cottage only to find that Rose and George Loomis have not yet checked out. Though the Cutlers temporarily take another cabin, the lives of the two couples are bound together for the next two days. Polly discovers that Rose is having an affair and that George, though emotionally unstable, has good reason for his jealous rage. George accurately suspects that Rose openly flaunts her sexuality to make him act crazy in front of witnesses.
