Hailing from Kristiansand, Norway, In Vain has been a pioneering force in Norwegian progressive extreme metal since 2003. Founded by guitarist Johnar Haaland and vocalist Andreas Frigstad, the band's melodic extreme metal sound set them apart early on. In 2007, In Vain released their first full-length album 'The Latter Rain', a collaborative effort with nearly twenty guest musicians, showcasing their prowess in diverse, progressive arrangements. Subsequent albums like 'Mantra' (2010) and 'AEnigma' (2013) continued to push musical boundaries. Their album 'Solemn' is showcasing exceptional musicianship across the board, and further elevating the experience with a resplendent, organic production, masterfully honed to perfection by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Katatonia, Devin Townsend, Kreator).

In 1660 the Restoration put an end to a period of artistic austerity and saw a rebirth of musical life in England, encouraged by a powerful need to be entertained. Many works for harpsichord were published by famous composers, yet also by others who are today quite forgotten. Caroline Huynh Van Xuan presents an original and hitherto unrecorded programme of grounds that enables one to rediscover the repertory and the vitality of the English music scene in the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
More than 10 years after their grand debut, In Vain returns with their fourth album Currents, on January 26th 2018. The pioneers of progressive extreme metal return with a consummate and complete offering. Without question, Currents is the definite pinnacle of In Vain’s career so far. Unique, innovative and catchy compositions with longevity that merge elements from many different genres, whilst still maintaining a carefully balanced dynamic. In Vain retains a principal focus on solid songwriting with cleverness and an original edge. Top notch musicianship in all ranks and a sublime guest performance on drums by Baard Kolstad (Official). Add to that a stellar, organic production tweaked to perfection by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Katatonia, Devin Townsend, Kreator, etc) at Fascination Street Studios.
