'One of the best Vladimir Cosma's soundtrack!! Realy funky! In film "Le Coup Du Parapluie" he receives one of the very first credits in the opening titles, even before the rest of the crew and most of the actors. This soundtrack didn't include some other great tracks from film; "Allo Samba" from "Le Retour Du Grand Blond" film and later released on "Le Moustachu" 7" track named "La Mission". This LP was reissued on CD in 1995 by Pomme Music, but the track named "Souper Pour Deux" was rejected, but you can still find it on "L'Etudiante" soundtrack, it's name - "Premier Baiser".

The character of Lully is fascinating. Lully was an Italian actor, dancer and musician who becomes the central creative force in music theatre in the court of the Sun King. However it is the flawless music that is contained in this recording that should be heard. With use of period instruments William Christie and Les Arts Florissants paint a range of compositions from various operas and periods in Lully's career in the court of the Sun King.

Giacomo Meyerbeer was one of the most important composers in Paris during the mid-1800s. He is considered the founder of the French Grand Opera and his works dominated the French stage. Meyerbeer changed the face of opera in Paris, and yet, much criticism is directed toward him and much of his music is seldom heard today. This 3-CD set is the first of two volumes, which together honor Meyerbeer and reacquaint the listener with his marvelous music and some very interesting singing. These two volumes contain at least one version of every recorded Meyerbeer excerpt sung by French singers.

Diva is an entertaining and attractively packaged compilation of Angela Gheorghiu's EMI recordings made between 1996 and 2002. All of the selections have appeared on previous releases, but some of them only in the context of complete operas. As a one-disc snapshot of Gheorghiu's career so far, Diva does pretty well, and it would make a good first choice for anyone looking to get to know her work.
