By the end of the '70s, John Denver was still a star, but he didn't have many hits. That situation didn't improve in the early '80s, as his records started sliding slowly down the charts. This is the era that Greatest Hits, Volume 3 covers – one that found Denver's popularity fading, but not necessarily his skills. Sure, his songs don't sound as effortless or charming as they used to, but the best moments from these years (most of which are captured on this compilation) illustrate that he was still capable of crafting ingratiating folk-pop songs. It's not for every listener, but fans of Denver's classic years that want to dig a little deeper may find some gems here.

The Last Recordings, the last known studio recordings from John Denver, recorded in Nashville in 1997 shortly before the singer’s untimely death, is a collection of Denver’s greatest hits reimagined as the singer wished to present them and intended by Denver to take the place of masters recorded under his decades-long run with a major label.

Whose Garden Was This starts out with the Tom Paxton-penned environmentalist anthem and includes Denver's versions of such songs as the Band's 'The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down', Jerry Jeff Walker's 'Mr. Bojangles' and The Beatles' 'Eleanor Rigby' and 'Golden Slumbers' as well as Denver's own contributions including 'I Wish I Could Have Been There (Woodstock)'.

I Want to Live is the 12th album by American singer-songwriter John Denver released by RCA Records in November 1977. The title song was dedicated to the "Hunger Project", which Denver was on the board of directors.

Contains All Original 13 Tracks. John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together is a 1979 Christmas television special starring Jim Henson's Muppets and singer-songwriter John Denver. The special first aired December 5, 1979, on ABC. It has never been released on any standard home video format but the special is available for viewing at the Paley Center for Media, alongside other Muppet specials.
