This double-disc from Universal gathers 34 tracks by Jack Jones including "Come Rain or Come Shine,""What the World Needs Now Is Love," "Yesterday," and "Strangers in the Night." Casual listeners will be satisfied with the track selection, while longtime fans will undoubtedly already own this material.

Memphis gospel singer Elder Jack Ward’s spirit took flight on April 11, 2023 after a remarkable life of spreading God’s word through example, message and most especially, song. His latest album, The Storm, had just been released by Bible and Tire Records at the time of his passing and has now become the final word and work of a life well lived. Like its 2021 predecessor, Already Made, The Storm captured an element of Ward that producer Bruce Watson found truly rare in the world of gospel music: song writing.

"Curtain Time" was originally issued on vinyl in 1968, as MCA/Universal was trying to make every last penny they could off the Jack Jones catalog that they acquired from Kapp. This CD features an excellent mix of showtunes that Jones recorded, and they're not all the predictable ones you've seen repeated in recent years for Greatest Hits collections. It's especially good to see titles from the Nelson Riddle and Billy May collaborations included here, since Jones gets far too little recognition for the legendary talent he worked with, and the amazing material he recorded, while such a very young vocalist with Kapp. For some of these songs, this is the first and only time they've been remastered for CD, so there's much worthwhile about this compilation, even if its price tag is rather steep.

The drip paintings of Jackson Pollock, trailblazing Abstract Expressionist, appear to be the polar opposite of Thomas Hart Benton's highly figurative Americana. Yet the two men had a close and highly charged relationship dating from Pollock's days as a student under Benton. Pollock's first and only formal training came from Benton, and the older man soon became a surrogate father to Pollock. In true Oedipal fashion, Pollock even fell in love with Benton's wife.

Jack Kilby and the Front Line is a collaborative effort formed in 2014 in New York City. The ensemble includes members from New York, Washington DC, and Virginia. What is most striking is the span of generations, ranging from twenty-six to forty-six. The album has been released in separate volumes but is now available as one complete recording. Volume one, released in October 2018, features the band's core sextet: Jack Kilby, the drummer and bandleader; Kris Monson on bass; Allyn Johnson on piano; John DEarth on trumpet; Charles Owens on tenor saxophone and Elad Cohen on trombone, performing their hard bop-inspired repertoire.

As the drummer of insanely popular folk-rock band Boy & Bear, the majority of Harts musical life is spent behind the drum kit - touring the world, singing back-up vocals, and contributing songwriting to the award-winning Sydney groups beloved songs and spirit. This high-profile existence pushed Hart to make his 2012 debut album, 'Milling the Wind,' a bare bones folk record. "Something that wasnt so meticulous and thought out," he says now. But for his second album, 'The Narrow Corner,' concept was shunted aside for life experience.
