Without doubt the most important musician in the development of Jamaican music, Jackie Mittoo's work for Coxsone Dodd set the template for the future of reggae, his work there still being referenced and versioned to this day. "Striker Showcase" finds Jackie Mittoo re-visting much of his past at Studio One for producer Bunny Lee a few years later in a classic 70's recording-style that proved extremely popular in the Roots Rockers era of the original releases in 1976 to 1978. This re-mastered 2CD set collects together three classic Jackie Mittoo albums Showcase (also known as "Showcase 3"), The Keyboard King and Hot Blood and fleshes them out with six extra choice cuts. Recorded at Dynamic, Harry J and Channel One Studio. Mixed at King Tubby's Studio by Prince Jammy and King Tubby.

Mojo presents Studio One Selector is a 2005 compilation CD released by the British music publication Mojo magazine. This is a great CD that came with the March 2005 issue of Mojo featuring music produced by the late Clement "Sir Coxsone" Dodd. The music here is presented in conjunction with Soul Jazz Records.

By the 1970s Studio One and Clement Sir Coxsone Dodd had already proved himself to be the defining force in Reggae for almost two decades. From running the Downbeat sound system on the lawns and yards of Kingston in the late 1950s to opening Studio One at 13 Brentford Road at the start of the 1960s, ushering in Ska and Rocksteady and establishing the careers of most of Jamaicas artists everyone from Bob Marley and The Wailers, Ken Boothe, Toots and The Maytals, The Skatalites, Jackie Mittoo and more Clement Dodd had until this point dominated the Jamaican musical world.

This new release delves deep into the unique melting pot sound of reggae, funk and dub created throughout the 1970s at the Studio One music lab situated at 13 Brentford Road, Kingston, where the intense experiments and collaborations of crack musicians, singers, DJs and engineers under the guidance of producer Clement 'Coxsone' Dodd produced the most forward-thinking music ever to come out of Jamaica.

This is the second installment of deep roots Rastafarian reggae at Studio One and features classic music from some of the most important figures in reggae music – Alton Ellis, The Heptones, Jackie Mittoo, The Gladiators – alongside a host of rarities and little-known recordings, such as a truly rare Mystic Revelation of Rastafari seven-inch single, Willie William’s first ever recording ‘Calling’ and Horace Andy’s righteous (and equally rare) masterpiece ‘Illiteracy.’
