They were living legends who demonstrated strong bonds with legends passed. Eddie 'Son' House had been associated with Charley Patton and was a mentor both to Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters. Johnny Shines had traveled with Johnson and absorbed his music before joining the Delta's émigrés to Chicago.
