...В августе началось мировое турне ДЖЕТРО ТАЛЛ и на концертах вместо вконец разболевшегося Глэзкока выступают Дэйв Пегг (Dave Pegg, род. 2.11.47 г. в Бирмингеме), бывший участник ARMORY KANE и FATRPORT CONVENTION. У Джона Глэзкока дела были совсем плохи. Инфекция, попавшая к нему в организм через зубы, привела к заражению крови и операции по замене сердечного капана, во время которой он скончался 17 ноября 1979 года в лондонском госпитале...

...Андерсон настолько привык брать буквально все под свой контроль, что работать с ним пришлому музыканту было не с руки. Поэтому Эдди Джобсон, несмотря на свою виртуозность и талант, не смог долго продержаться в группе. Он оставил ДЖЕТРО ТАЛЛ в апреле 1981 года, после завершения мирового турне, играл в YES в 1983 году, а потом скатился до создания рекламных заставок на телевидении. На американских гастролях, которые посетило более полмиллиона зрителей, разогревающей группой выступали WHITESNAKE. В конце ноября 1980 года музыканты устроили два сногсшибательных шоу в лондонском Royal Albert Hall. На основе этого турне было смонтировано видео "Slipstream", которое вышло в январе 1981 года. В том же году Дэйв Пегг записал свой первый соло-альбом "The Cocktail Cowboy Goes It Alone"...

Original Masters is a greatest hits album by Jethro Tull released under Chrysalis Records in 1985. It was the band's third such effort, the first two being M.U. - The Best of Jethro Tull and Repeat - The Best of Jethro Tull - Vol II. Although the compilation was released in 1985, it does not include material released after 1977.

'The Best of Jethro Tull The Anniversary Collection,' released in 1993, is a best-of box set by British rock group Jethro Tull. Included are some of the band's biggest and best hits spanning from 1968 to 1991. A two disc collection, 'The Anniversary Collection' compiles releases from 1968-1974 on disc one, and releases from 1975-1991 on disc two, including early hits like, 'This Was' to Tull's later work, like 1991's 'Catfish Rising.' With such a comprehensive collection, it's interesting to hear the changing roster of characters (the original lineup has changed many times, but for Ian Anderson - vocals, flute - the one constant). A captivating, laid back Jethro Tull performance which was recorded in November 2008 as part of the AVO indoor music festival in Basel, Switzerland.
The superior Swiss audio-visual production here allows the viewer to overlook frontman Ian Anderson's somewhat strained voice at times which is more than compensated for by the band as a whole being in top musical form, particularily Anderson's flute playing which reminds me of how he sounded on the 1995 Roots To Branches studio album. Martin Barre's lucent electric guitar lines are perfectly balanced against Anderson's succinct acoustic rhythm playing with plenty of opportunity for soloing.

Sporting the cover of the CD/DVD set is a very strange looking Ian Anderson with a typically normally looking Martin Barre. Anderson looks like he is getting ready to do something perverted with his flute again. Glad to know 31 years on nothing much has changed in that respect. Live At Madison Square Garden (CD/DVD) is one of several live Jethro Tull DVD's that have become available over the last few years. I am glad that I didn't miss this one because it's a real gem. It contains a 93 minute concert recording in 5.1 DTS (96/24) surround sound (+Dolby Digital 5.1 & LPCM 2.0) and within all of that is 50 minutes of video footage from the groundbreaking (an often over used term in music but in this case true) of an international broadcast via satellite on October 9, 1978. The CD is a 78 minute edited stereo version of the concert. The only difference in tracks between the two is the "Bagpipe Intro" on the DVD and obviously the visual impact of a live Jethro Tull performance that is so strikingly brought to life again.
