Vintage live Tull at its 1970s best! "A live extravaganza from the '70s Jethro Tull, this was recorded over several nights in different venues on a portable 8-track tape recorder and transferred to 2" multitrack when I got home after the tours. I had to listen all through to many shows and pick the best live versions. But much of it was, at least, from the concert in Bern, Switzerland where dear Claude Nobs came to introduce the band in his inimitable style. Also featuring on this box set collection is the live concert from Madison Square Garden recorded a few months later and shown live on BBC TV in the U.K. A scary experience for the band as it was, we were told, the first time a live rock concert had been the subject of a live satellite broadcast.

After two consecutive new Jethro Tull album releases in 2022 and 2023, another collection - 'Curious Ruminant' - is unleashed on the 7th March 2025. Consisting of nine tracks varying in length from two and half minutes to almost seventeen minutes, this is an album of mostly full band music. Amongst the musicians featured are former keyboardist Andrew Giddings and drummer James Duncan, along with the current band members David Goodier, John O'Hara, Scott Hammond and, making his recording debut with the band, guitarist Jack Clark.

Live at Madison Square Garden 1978 is a concert video and an album by British rock band Jethro Tull, released in 2009. It was recorded on 9 October 1978 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Probably no other band has interwoven prog rock and folk as masterfully as the Brits of Jethro Tull have managed to do. It became the unique selling point of the group around Ian Anderson how they innovatively merged both influences into a new and exciting whole.

Originally released in 2003, the album has been remixed from the original tapes by Bruce Soord. This limited 4CD+Blu-ray Bookset edition features Bruce's new mixes, as well as the originals across two CD’s. The set also includes a remixed version of Christmas Live at St Brides 2008 plus over 40 minutes of unreleased recordings from a previous performance at St Brides in 2006 by the Ian Anderson Band. Founded in Blackpool, Lancashire, in 1967 by the Scotsman Ian Anderson, the band has undergone several stylistic shifts and changes of image during their still ongoing career of many decades. Yet largely due to the characteristic voice of their frontman and the inclusion of a flute as an essential instrument, JETHRO TULL have always had an inimitable and easily recognisable trademark sonic fingerprint.

1970 was a pivotal year for Jethro Tull, when their relentless roadwork and perseverance began to pay off. On 24th Jan, British magazine New Musical Express chose Tull as best new group by more than 3,000 votes and their third album, Benefit, was their most ambitious and original work to date. In terms of the band's profile in America, this was the year Jethro Tull had truly arrived. The previous album, Stand Up, introduced guitarist Martin Barre to the fold and found the band stretching well beyond the parameters of the blues-based debut. The 1970 American tour would find the group expanding to a quintet, with Anderson's long-time associate John Evans joining the group on keyboards, further expanding the sonic palette. Classical elements now entered the already heady brew of blues, jazz, traditional English folk, and hard rock that defined the band's sound. This was undoubtedly a turning point for Jethro Tull whose hard work would finally pay off with Aqualung, their most poignant and popular album. From there, Tull were very nearly an American band!
