For all of the acclaim it received, there's no denying that No Quarter was a tentative reunion for Page & Plant, containing only a handful of new songs that were scattered among many reworked old favorites. Since its supporting tour went well, the duo decided to make their reunion permanent, setting to work on an album of entirely new material…

Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page backs Harper up on this album and earns co-billing for his trouble. The guitar interplay turns out to be the highlight of the album. Harper displays a nihilistic attitude toward everything in general, and quite a few things in particular…

This studio album marked a return to commercial success for Jimmy Page since his days with Led Zeppelin, however subsequent sluggish tickets sales for a world tour after concerts in Japan, resulted in the partnership being shelved. Page then teamed up with Robert Plant for an “UnLedded” MTV project. A further six tracks recorded between Page and Coverdale remain unreleased.

Though the soundtrack for Death Wish 2 may not sound like an interesting record on the surface, it is actually a significant release for any number of reasons. For one thing, it was the first album that Jimmy Page recorded and released after the breakup of Led Zeppelin, and the album serves as a fascinating transition from Zeppelin's final studio release, In Through the out Door, to the work Page would do with his ill-fated supergroup the Firm. In addition to containing Page's work with a full orchestra, there are several pieces that showcase his well-established ability to create eerie, unnerving guitar and synthesizer lines, mainly to serve as accompaniment to the film. Page also delivers three fully composed rock songs, "Who's to Blame," "Hypnotizing Ways," and "City Sirens."

Jimmy Page needs little introduction - England's number #1 session player in the sixties, major component of The Yardbirds, driving force of the world's heaviest and, some would say, best band - Led Zeppelin. Jimmy was of course used to playing in exalted company during the sixties and was a close cohort of the extraordinary David 'Screaming Lord' Sutch, one of Britain's more flamboyant performers. In 1970 he recorded Lord Sutch & Heavy Friends, replicated in its entirety here and featuring a who's-who of rock royalty - fellow Led Zeps John Paul Jones and John Bonham, guitar genius Jeff Beck, Noel Redding on bass and Nicky Hopkins on piano: a gloriously insane jam session that has achieved legendary status. Also included are six tracks from the 1968 sessions for Keith De Groot's debut album, with Page and John Paul Jones among the backing musicians. A fascinating precursor to Zeppelin and highly collectable material.
