TRIO BALKAN STRINGS (Zoran Starcevic & sons: Nikola and Zeljko) the guitar family from Belgrade - Serbia, performs its original instrumental music, a fusion of many Balkan elements: Serbian, Gypsy, Macedonian, Romanian, Moldavian, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Mediterranean, Greek, Oriental…including some Jazz improvisations and classical elements. The result, combining many cultures, is rich and unconventional, fresh and spontaneous, brimming with energy.

" Trio Balkan Strings dedication to the music of the Balkans and central Europe is inspiring. The guitar interpretations of this music are wonderful. Really good !!! " John McLaughlin

This release may be a surprise to some who associate Auger, quite correctly, with the rock music and performing pyrotechnics seated at the Hammond organ…

MP3 320 kbps CBR | 70:53 min | 165 MB
Genre: Jazz, Fusion | Label: Abstract Logix

Acclaimed Israeli-born, New York-based guitarist and composer Oz Noy strains against boundaries, creating intuitive, fluid sonic art suspended somewhere between blues anguish, rock power, and the rich harmonic density of jazz. The live 'Asian Twistz' may just be the purest distillation of his vision yet.

Classically trained pianist Monika Lang honours jazz piano great Bill Evans on this album, joined by her trio members Wolfgang Reisinger on drums and acoustic bassist Uli Langthaler. Lang draws on her background in chamber music to lock in step with her fellow musicians and develop her own musical dialogue while remaining faithful to the spirit of Evans. The pieces selected by Lang for this tribute reflect different stages of Evans's life.

Their name comes from the "ha" of hajouj (an African bass, also called a gumbri), and the "douk" of doudouk (a sort of Armenian oboe). Loy Ehrlich, who plays the hajouj, is a multi-talented musician who has backed Peter Gabriel and Jon Hassel on keyboards while continuing his productive African adventures with Youssou N'Dour, Touré Kunda, Geoffrey Oryema and Wasis Diop. He is also one of the programme planners for the Gnaoua d’Essaouira music festival.

It's been four long years since British composer and saxophonist John Surman issued a new recording for his longtime home label, ECM. In a loose way, The Spaces in Between is the mirror image of 2003's Free and Equal, recorded with drummer Jack DeJohnette and the London Brass (though that record was a mirror of the first teaming of Surman with his longtime collaborator, double bassist Chris Laurence and the then-new Trans4mation String Quartet). Surman has been writing, arranging for, and performing with Trans4mation since that time. Whereas Coruscating was far more formal in structure, and its textures and colorings plotted in advance, here there are more opportunities for the strings to improvise and add more freely to the mix…

New version of the Paco de Lucía Integral, 27 CDs his complete work remastered. "Cositas Buenas", his last album, comes as a new in this new Integral. Now in a new economic format. This collection is a unique tour of the work of Paco de Lucia from 1964 to 2004. One of the least well-known of the extensive body of work recorded by the Algeciran, which contains some of the tracks that he would include months later on his 1981 record Solo Quiero Caminar with The Sextet. On two songs he counts on the participation of John McLaughlin and Larry Coryell, both of whom collaborated on a series of virtuoso trio performances, an idea promoted by Paco’s manager, Barry Marshall, towards the end of 1978 (Al di Meola soon took the place of Larry Coryell).

Three CD set celebrating an exciting, revolutionary time in British jazz when musical boundaries were stretched or ignored and new identities forged. With British jazz back in the news through genre stretching artists such as Ezra Collective and Shabaka Hutchings it's a perfect time to rediscover this influential period in British jazz history. Featuring celebrated jazz figures such as Dick Morrissey, Tubby Hayes, Don Rendell, Ian Carr, Joe Harriott and Graham Collier alongside bands such as Colosseum, Satisfaction and Keef Hartley Band that merged jazz and rock. This box set tells a story of British Jazz at a time of cultural change, a period of experimentation and transformation in music, from the swinging hard bop of The Dick Morrissey Quartet to the pioneering jazz rock fusion of Nucleus (featuring Ian Carr), If (who included Dick Morrissey) and Brian Auger's Oblivion Express.
