We thought it might be nice to celebrate our 40th Anniversary with a Deluxe Edition of our No. 1 most requested soundtrack! Here it is! Years in the making. Countless hurdles overcome. We are thrilled and ecstatic to finally offer this. Let the celebrations begin! John Williams’ Dracula kicks off this latest edition of our CD Club! John Badham directed this 1979 telling of Dracula’s tale. John Williams was absolutely on fire at this time. There were Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind in 1977. The Fury, Jaws 2 and Superman all from 1978. And then came Dracula in 1979. It was a magical time and this was another masterpiece. Dracula features one of John Williams’ most brilliant and iconic themes. He admittedly has so many but he certainly captured the mythical Count in a darkly romantic and seductive way.

John Williams One of the pillars of film scoring and the most popular film composer of his era, John Williams has created music for some of the most successful motion pictures in Hollywood history – Star Wars, E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, and Harry Potter are just a handful of selections from an extensive catalog that has included over 50 Academy Awards nominations. After getting his start in television in the late '50s, Williams worked more steadily on feature films by the early '70s, impressing with his stirring orchestral scores for blockbuster disaster films like The Poseidon Adventure (1972), Earthquake (1974), and The Towering Inferno (1974), as well as through his work with such emerging directors as Robert Altman (1973's The Long Goodbye) and Steven Spielberg (1974's The Sugarland Express). His recurring partnership with Spielberg would span six decades.

The British saxophonist/composer John Williams's previous recording for Spotlite featured his Baritone Band, with its front line of four baritone saxophones. Now it's the turn of the tenor saxophone! This new recording features two versions of his "Tenorama", one focusing on players from an earlier era - Don Rendell, Dave Gelly and Phil Day - and one focusing on the younger generation - Renato D'Aiello and Karen Sharp. With some additional musicians, including Steve Waterman on trumpet and Williams himself on reeds, and some extremely imaginative writing, Williams achieves some fascinating tonal effects and textures.

Intrada announces a 25th-anniversary edition of John Williams' Oscar-nominated score to the 2000 Columbia Pictures/Centropolis film The Patriot. Throughout Williams' long and treasured career he had developed a fresh, Americana voice, first coming to the fore in his 1969 score to The Reivers, then furthered a few years later with The Cowboys and quite powerfully in an unexpected place—-the Smallville sequences of Superman. It was a style that he would return to periodically and The Patriot provided a showcase for this style. The score involves three principal themes that correspond to protagonist Martin’s past, present, and future—the war trauma theme, the love theme and the patriot theme. As the themes weave throughout the score, Williams' beloved epic style is on full display, as well as exciting action music. It's all here in this lengthy and powerful work. Williams wrote his score for The Patriot over the course of about two months, a length of time he described as “fairly generous.” He then recorded the score over eight sessions between May 6 and May 20, 2000. For this expanded 3-CD set, producer Mike Matessino took a meticulous approach to restoring the score for full presentation as well as preserving the unique and artistic presentation of the original Hollywood Records album. As Matessino writes in in his producer’s note

Because of the decrease of popularity for the vinyl format, Return of the Jedi, which has the longest score of the original trilogy, was only released on one LP instead of two like the scores for its predecessors, A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back.

Williams and Pedroni each transcribed about half of material on this album, which premieres Williams' own piano suites from 'Lincoln', and 'The Book Thief', plus Pedroni's own special transcriptions of music from 'Harry Potter', 'Star Wars', 'Schindler's List' and more. The album is a stunning and unique presentation of John Williams' film music, without the usual symphony orchestra, and includes 80 minutes of music.
