Roméo & Juliette: De la haine à l'amour - by Gerard Presgurvic (2002)

Roméo et Juliette: de la Haine à l'Amour is a French musical based on William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet, with music and lyrics by Gérard Presgurvic. It premiered in Paris on January 19, 2001.
Differences from Shakespeare's plot include that the nature of the lovers' deaths is different, depending on the production. New characters such as Death (French, Belgian, Netherlands, and Moscow productions only) and the Poet (French production only) appear for dramatic effect. Lady Capulet has a greatly increased role and in the case of the Hungarian version, has an affair with her servant. The role of Tybalt has changed slightly from being purely dark to a more pitiful character because of his growing up with the hate and a dark childhood, as well as an unrequited attraction to Juliet.

In Seraing, an industrial town in Liège, Belgium, Sandra is a young wife and mother, who works in a small solar-panel factory. She suffers a nervous breakdown and is forced to take time off from her job. During her absence, her colleagues realize they are able to cover her shifts by working slightly longer hours and the management proposes a €1,000 bonus to all staff if they agree to make Sandra redundant. Sandra later returns to work and discovers that her fate rests in the hands of her sixteen co-workers, and she must visit each of them over the course of a weekend to persuade them to reject the monetary bonus.

This is a story about a rich white man who falls in love with Juliet the full figured black woman who cleans his offices at night. After learning of his wife's affair with one of his work partners and the sabotage of his business he is left broken and is taken in by Juliet who then shows him what real true love is … If you have not yet seen this movie then you are missing out on what real true love means, it does not matter what color you are, or what size you are it's how your heart feels and that's what this beautiful love story shows us all … a must see!
