It is with deep regret that ECM and XtraWATT announce the release of Karen Mantler's newest recording Farewell. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made by purchasing the Compact Disc.On Farewell, the visionary singer/songwriter (and daughter of Carla Bley and Michael Mantler) laments the death of feline friend Arnold with an impassioned set that tugs at the heart. Mantler chronicled her relationship with Arnold on two previous XtraWATT releases, My Cat Arnold and the critically acclaimed Karen Mantler And Her Cat Arnold Get The Flu. She had barely finished mourning before entering the historic Grog Kill Studios to record Farewell - not 15 yards from Arnold's final resting place.

Velvet Vault is the title of a collection that combine jazz standards with jazz reworks of pop classics plus two songs co-written by Karen herself. Japan's superstar Toku duets with Karen on the track "You Got That Something". Also part of the album are Amy Winehouse guitarist Robin Banerjee and the legendary Tom "Bones" Malone (Blues Brothers, Saturday Night Live Band). Vocals were recorded in New York at the Orchard studios and produced by Richard Gottehrer of Blondie, Richard Hell and Dr. Feelgood fame. Velvet Vault is without a doubt, Karen's most accomplished record to date and will definitely surpass the success of her previous efforts.

Lady of the Forest is Karen's debut solo album. Some songs were written years ago, "like seeds waiting underground to sprout", as she puts it. The instrumental piece, for instance, was written when Karen was 18: "During home sessions with Guy Shoham, my good friend and flat mate, and who also plays on the recording, this tune suddenly came up, and it now carries a whole new meaning. To me it symbolizes a kind of rebirth, and this album would not have been whole without it".

Karen Dalton: In My Own Time (2021)
Blues and folk singer Karen Dalton was a prominent figure in 1960s New York. Idolized by Bob Dylan and Nick Cave, Karen discarded the traditional trappings of success and led an unconventional life until her early death. Since most images of Karen have been lost or destroyed, the film uses Karen's dulcet melodies and interviews with loved ones to build a rich portrait of this singular woman and her hauntingly beautiful voice.

Chandos signed Karen Geoghegan as an exclusive artist in 2007 following her wonderful performances on the BBC TV ‘Classical Star’ programme. This is her fourth recording with the label, following her CD of works by Hummel, Weber, Berwald, Jacobi, Elgar and Gershwin, her CD of French music for bassoon and piano, and her contribution, in the Suite-Concertino in F major, to Noseda’s Wolf-Ferrari CD. All of these received much acclaim, and the expressive maturity and sensitivity of her playing have quickly cemented her status as a rising star.
