The Ottawa Bach Choir presents works by three of the most important composers of the German Baroque period — Handel (Dixit Dominus with the participation of countertenor Daniel Taylor), along with motets by Schütz and Bach. While the three composers remained faithful to their German roots, the works presented here also feature influences from the Italian Baroque, including the use of drama, expression, intensity, rhythmic fervor, harmonic invention and word painting, as well as polychoral techniques. Founded in 2002 by Lisette Canton, the Ottawa Bach Choir performs music from all historical periods while keeping Bach's choral oeuvre as the focus of its repertoire. Joining some of Canada’s most accomplished artists and top choristers from the National Capital region and beyond, the choir has received national and international recognition.

Oregon civil rights activist Kathleen Saadat is one of the state’s most respected and admired leaders. A graduate of Reed College, she has been on the front lines of political and social activism for over 40 years. She was the Affirmative Action Director of Oregon under Governor Neil Goldschmidt, and was one of the drafters of the Portland Civil Rights Ordinance. She has tirelessly worked for social justice, advocating for people of color, women, the LGBQ community, and the economically disadvantaged, among others.

Many people are already facing the challenges posed by these progressive and terminal conditions, whether in person or because they are caring for loved ones. Dementia is now the fifth most common cause of death across the world. It is a small wonder that understanding, preventing, and finally curing these illnesses is now a global priority.
