Association α-Centauri started in November 1992 with the aim to promote and develop Electronic Music (i.e. synthesizer music) in a pro-active way. One of the ways α-Centauri realizes this is by means of stimulating and helping amateur musicians to develop themselves and to give them opportunity to present themselves to audience. With this goal in mind α-Centauri organizes all sorts of events, like a mini-concerts and Electronic Music Festivals and nowadays has around 100 contributors of which most of them are more or less active in creating Electronic Music. In 1996 they gave their contributors the opportunity to subscribe to an Electronic Music Competition, of which the best compositions are released on this very first α-Centauri CD.

On 12 and 13 April in New York City, Clapton once again assembled an unparalleled lineup of the world’s most celebrated guitarists for the fourth incarnation of his legendary Crossroads Guitar Festival. While the previous three festivals were all hosted in sprawling outdoor stadiums, Clapton took the festivities indoors for the first time this year to “The World’s Most Famous Arena,” Madison Square Garden.

There was a firm belief within the label’s team that recording technique was there to serve the music - the Musicians had their own views about how any given piece should be interpreted and how it should sound; the recording team’s job was to grasp that vision and make it a reality. This recording philosophy, combined with great artistry and visionary repertoire policy, created a special chapter in the history of classical music recordings that still inspires artists, sound engineers and collectors alike.

There have been a lot of Sun compilations over the years; this three-CD, 74-song compilation strikes the medium ground between abridged single-disc highlights and overkill ten-album box sets. What this means is that you get virtually all the key sides of this vastly influential blues, country, and rockabilly label, including the biggest Sun hits cut by Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Charlie Rich, and Roy Orbison. There's also a lot of the pioneering electric blues cut by label head Sam Phillips before he made rockabilly Sun's focus, including sides by Howlin' Wolf, B.B. King, Rufus Thomas, Junior Parker, and James Cotton.
