Kill List (2011)

Headless Beast from Ulm are one of those acts that bring here as a first album one hell of an ambitious work on the market and without a label in the background. Starting from the pretty Markus Vesper cover with the band mascot, the headless horseman who really crystal clear and beautiful massive production of Vagelis Maranis (SUICIDAL ANGELS, ARRYAN PATH SAIDIAN, NOCTE OBDUCTA, WINTER'SVERGE) on the well-thought songs were really hard to be worked and created a more than impressive album that is absolutely competitive.

George Lynch is one of the most dynamic and influential guitarists in music today. During the rush of the 1980's rock scene, his catchy riffs, soaring guitar solos, and impassioned songwriting, elevated Dokken well above most other bands in the glam, Hair Metal, era. Over a dozen hit singles and a string of successful platinum albums, including Under Lock and Key and Back for the Attack, have stood the test of time, and become part of the very fabric of musical culture.

Originally conceived as a single disc called Psychobilly Goes Pop and featuring contemporary rockabilly bands covering various pop hits, this set is now expanded (and renamed) with a second disc that adds in tracks from Dale Hawkins, Wanda Jackson, Dwight Pullen, and others, as well as a couple of psychobilly romps through holiday music, the Vaudevilles' “Shot My Baby for Christmas” and Thee Merry Widows' amped-up version of “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer,” to make a nicely balanced and varied look at modern and contemporary rockabilly.

"Strike Back" arrives shortly after the demo, to provide another 8 blistering retro speed/thrashers, which this time carry a shade of hardcore: "Kill the Police", or branch out into a less controlled Slayer-esque thrash: "Back from the Grave".

Apparently out of nowhere this newcomer-band presents an album that combines the freshness of a debut with the experience of many years of songwriting. With Christian Stöver and Stefan Ellerhorst (Crossroads) you will discover the german guitar-twin-duo of the early nineties. Brace For Impact is 12 melodic metal tracks that will convince all fans of bands like Rainbow, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath or Dio that this is a clear, powerful debut.

Kill Devil Hill is a heavy metal supergroup founded in 2011 around the talents of drummer Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, Dio), bassist Rex Brown (Pantera), guitarist Mark Zavon, and vocalist Jason Bragg, Kill Devil Hill, named for a North Carolina coastal town with a long history of piracy (as in rum, swordplay, and loot), mine both the past and present, resulting in a powerful blend of groove-laden hard rock, brooding post-grunge, and classic mainstream metal that has drawn comparisons to artists like Alice In Chains and System Of A Down. The band's eponymous debut was released through SPV/Steamhammer in May 2012.
