Based around a toneful '70s Rogers kit with a selection of classy cymbals and a versatile Rogers Dynasonic snare, Pizazz provides the classic brush backdrop for jazz and other genres. It’s essentially a hollow wooden box with metal keys attached to it. The instrument is plucked with thumbs and the wooden box helps increase the resonance of the metal keys. However Tonehammer took it to the next level. We recorded the Kalimba in four different locations for ultimate user freedom. The user can choose between dry (close-mic’d in a small, dead room), wet (small hall), wetter (big hall / close mics) and wettest (big hall - far mics).

We spend a great deal of our time finding and/or creating new instruments that are not commonly known and our next release is no exception. Essentially we managed to get our hands on a unique tuned percussion instrument, which is made by an artisan in the San Francisco Bay Area and can only be found in a handful of local music shops. The maker makes one at the time, so there are very few of them in the world. The instrument is known as a "Circle Bell" and sounds somewhere between a Gamelan, Glass Waterbowl, Prayer Bowl and something extraterrestrial. The instrument is made of an array of 6 steel bells, ranging from 2" to 3 1/2" in diameter and about 10" long.
