Keith Jarrett (born May 8, 1945) is an American jazz and classical music pianist and composer. Jarrett started his career with Art Blakey, moving on to play with Charles Lloyd and Miles Davis. Since the early 1970s he has also been a group leader and a solo performer in jazz, jazz fusion, and classical music. His improvisations draw from the traditions of jazz and other genres, especially Western classical music, gospel, blues, and ethnic folk music. In 2003, Jarrett received the Polar Music Prize, the first recipient of both the contemporary and classical musician prizes, and in 2004 he received the Léonie Sonning Music Prize. His album, The Köln Concert, released in 1975, became the best-selling piano recording in history. In 2008, he was inducted into the Down Beat Jazz Hall of Fame in the magazine's 73rd Annual Readers' Poll.

As part of the heavy promotion for his 2007 album Memory Almost Full, Paul McCartney played an intimate set at Amoeba Records' Hollywood branch – well, as intimate as a jam-packed set at a cavernous two-story store could possibly be. Ex-Beatles always tend to cause a commotion, and this event was no exception, with fans waiting outside for days to get a spot for the June 27 concert – a day that just happened to coincide with Paris Hilton's first post-prison interview with Larry King at CNN's L.A. studios, thereby making the corner of Cahuenga and Sunset the epicenter of pop culture for a brief moment in addition to being sheer traffic hell for Los Angelenos thinking they might get a chance to rub elbows with Ringo in the audience…

When McCartney formed Wings back in 1971, it was intended to be a touring unit as much as a recording one. After spending the latter half of his time with the Beatles confined to the studio, McCartney was itching to get back onto the road. By the time September 1975 rolled around, Wings' tours had been on the modest side. This latest one would last over a year and take the band around the world. The triple-album WINGS OVER AMERICA was recorded during this time and despite its heft, the performances within contained no filler and were bristling with energy from start to finish.
