Freedom – No Compromise is the third solo album by Little Steven released in 1987.

Stevie Van Zandt's first solo album in almost two decades is without question his purest and most uniquely personal artistic statement thus far. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer revisits songs that span the length of his career as artist, performer, producer, arranger and songwriter, focusing directly on the hugely influential "soul horns-meet-rock 'n' roll guitars" approach he first pioneered on Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes' classic first three albums. Brooklyn a cappella group The Persuasions appears on two tracks, while Van Zandt co-wrote the Motown-esque "Love On The Wrong Side Of Town" with his Boss, Bruce Springsteen.

E-Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt left the band following the recording of Born In The U.S.A. and released his own album, Voice Of America. It was Van Zandt's second album, after his prior release Men Without Women, and he was again backed by the Disciples Of Soul, including bassist Jean Beauvoir, and drummer Dino Danelli. Van Zandt himself handled vocals and guitars, as well as writing and producing the record's ten songs (the 1991 reissue included two bonus cuts). Voice Of America is a straight-ahead rock record with punk underpinnings and strong percussive rhythms. Van Zandt is a bit thin and reedy as a singer, but manages to carry through on passion and bravado.

ittle Steven Van Zandt has released Macca to Mecca, a live album honoring the music of The Beatles recorded in front of The Cavern Club, the Liverpool dive where the Fab Four famously got their start.

Men Without Women, credited to Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul, is the debut solo album by Steven Van Zandt, a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and a songwriter / producer with the Jersey Shore band Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes.
