Some funk, some jazz and some straight-out party music, and when the likes of Ray Parker Jr., Randy Brecker and Tim Hagans are willing to come along for the ride, it’s bound to keep the recipe going and some good music playing.

ACT boss Siegfried Loch has however the ambition with his own label’s sampler to "get the information about new releases across in a manner which also provides pleasure to the listener". Magic Moments 1 (2000). With the 1996 release of "A Little Magic In A Noisy World", the first of its anthology series, ACT began to document its repertory concept of a permanent exchange between jazz and other forms of music. The release of "Magic Moments" in January 2000 is the forth installment of this "music without borders". This time the CD combines over 40 ACTs on 18 titles.
Some of the musicians on this anthology speak the American - born language of jazz with the accent of their own mother tongue. Others add new words to the language, or expand the grammatical rules. Yet others speak in their native language, but owing to their long time away from their homeland, scatter scraps of American "slang" over their musical landscape…

One World Of Music. The ACT label has jazz at its core, and an openness to all kinds of musical directions: pop, rock, the music of singer-songwriters and traditional folkloric forms such as flamenco and tango. These very different genres nonetheless never fail to find new and magical ways to work together. The twelfth Magic Moments compilation presents exciting music "in the Spirit of Jazz". All kinds of pleasure await the listener during its 71 minutes. And what can one expect to hear in this world so far away from a single pre-determined style? There are surprises, obviously. Plus several chances to re-connect with established and familiar stars. And discoveries of some genuinely exciting newcomers.

The tunes are instantly recognizable: well-known standards such as "All The Things You Are", "Over The Rainbow" or "Autumn Leaves". And yet the listener always has the impression of hearing something completely new. On "Painting Music", Danish pianist Carsten Dahl gives his own take on some of the great classics of the jazz repertoire in a way that is highly personal, resolutely individual and completely revelatory.
