Die Dosis an Vampier, Werwolf, Erotik sind angenehm dosiert und verleiten einen sowohl zum schmunzeln als auch zum träumen oder im Vergnügen mit den Figuren schwlegen. Das hat Pepp, hört sich amüsant und abwechslungsreich an und bietet zudem eine Einsicht in überkommene Vorurteile und Rollenklischees, die auch heute immer noch in so manchen Mannes Kopf herumspuken.

Only nine of Pleasure's songs hit Billboard's R&B chart - none higher than the #10 "Glide" but anyone who has spent some time with the studio albums knows the band released a large quantity of great material. The 24-track Glide: The Essential Selection compiles most of the group's highlights. Six of those charting A-sides, including "Ghettos of the Mind," "Joyous," and, of course, "Glide" made the cut. Often-sampled deep cuts like "Bouncy Lady," "Let's Dance," and the brilliant "Thoughts of Old Flames," along with another perfect sweet-soul ballad, "Tune In," are contained as well. Stylistically, the band fit somewhere between the Blackbyrds and Slave and should be as well-known as either group. This sharp package should help a little. In-depth liner notes come from A. With their second album, Mirage, Camel begin to develop their own distinctive sound, highlighted by the group's liquid, intricate rhythms and the wonderful, unpredictable instrumental exchanges by keyboardist Pete Bardens and guitarist Andy Latimer. Camel also distinguish themselves from their prog rock peers with the multi-part suite "Lady Fantasy," which suggests the more complex directions they would take a few albums down the line. Also, Latimer's graceful flute playing distinguishes several songs on the record, including "Supertwister," and it's clear that he has a more supple technique than such contemporaries as Ian Anderson.
