„Land ho!“ hat Blues-Legende Nick Woodland sein neues Album genannt. Es ist sein zehntes, also ein Jubiläum, und schnell macht sich beim Hören der 13 Nummern entsprechende Feierstimmung breit. Hier zelebriert jemand das Leben, ganz klar, hier wird nach Pandemie und Lockdown dazu aufgerufen, sich dem Schönen, Positiven und Fruchtbaren zuzuwenden, trotz allem, trotz neuer Sorgen, denn auch darum geht es in der Kunst: vorübergehend in bessere Welten einzutauchen oder, wie in diesem Fall, gemeinsam in See zu stechen und die musikalischen Weltmeere zu bereisen. Nick Woodland setzt Segel und überrascht uns mit jeder neuen Drehung des Steuerrads. Zwar ist seine Spezialität, der Blues, überall durchzuhören, doch die Inseln, die angesteuert werden, heißen vor allem Pop, Folk und Country.

Colin (Paul Eenhoorn) und Mitch (Earl Lynn Nelson) sind ehemalige Schwager - die beiden verbindet eine langjährige Freundschaft, obwohl sie sehr verschieden sind. Vor der malerischen Kulisse des europäischen Inselstaates erleben sie ein Abenteuer nach dem anderen und geraten immer wieder in allerhand witzige Situationen. Zumal die zwei Männer jenseits der 60 keine Probleme zu haben scheinen, sich mit den Inselbewohnern oder anderen Touristen zu verständigen. Dennoch merken sie während ihrer Reise, dass man auch im Alter niemals auslernt.

Goombay Dance Band This Germany-based theatrical band was in a similar vein to the more successful Boney M. They were led by Olivier Bendt, and included his wife Alicia, children Danny and Yasmin, plus Dorothy Hellings, Wendy Doorsen, and Mario Slijngaard. Olivier is by profession a fire-eater who learnt his trade in St. Lucia, West Indies. By 1980, the Goombay Dance Band was one of the most successful acts in Germany, and entered the UK charts with ‘7 Tears’. Originally recorded in 1980, it was only released in the UK in 1982 and, after many previous flops, its success was something of a surprise. It eventually went all the way to number 1, only the second UK chart-topper by a German act following Kraftwerk’s ‘The Model’. The follow up ‘Sun Of Jamaica’ fared less well and the band returned to Germany to continue their domestic success. However, occasional singles still received a UK release, such as 1986’s ‘A Typical Jamaican Mess’.

German band playing disco music was founded in the late 70s by Oliver Bendt. The band's name comes from a small bay on the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia. The music of this band is a combination of a typical pop music with the rhythms of the Caribbean but is also influenced by eurodance since 2008.
