While Italian director Emilio Miraglia never rose to the heights of some of his fellow directors like Dario Argento or even Umberto Lenzi, he holds a special place in a many a genre fan's withered heart for a few of the six films he did direct: a crime film entitled Assassination starring the one and only Henry Silva, a Spaghetti Western starring Richard Harrison entitled Shoot, Joe, Shoot! and the two giallos that are in this set from No Shame Films, the infamous The Night Evelyn Came Out Of The Grave and the, until now, elusive The Red Queen Kills Seven Times. Both films prove to be solid thrillers with some great casts, plenty of style, and some cool murder set pieces as well.

Two lovers go on the run from their past in Keibetsu, the latest film from director Hiroki Ryuichi (Vibrator). Based on author Nakagami Kenji’s final novel before his death in 1992, this romance noir is an intense character drama about two outcasts trying to find a place to belong, only to face obstacles every step of the way. Suzuki Anne (Hana and Alice) gives the breakthrough performance of her career, playing an exotic dancer who elopes with a young gambler, played by Kora Kengo (M, Into the White Night). Returning to a darker realm after a string of gentle, low-key dramas, Hiroki depicts a fiery, passionate romance about two people who can only rely on each other in a cold, violent world.

Handsome playboy Nicky Ferrante and beautiful night club singer Terry McKay have a romance while on a cruise from Europe to New York. Despite being engaged to other people, both agree to reunite at the top of the Empire State Building in six months. However, an unfortunate accident keeps Terry from the reunion, and Nicky fears that she has married or does not love him anymore. Will he discover the truth behind her absence and reunite with his one true love, or has fate and destiny passed them by?

Directed by Ian Merrick, this intelligent crime drama charts the infamous killing spree which Donald Neilson, aka the Black Panther, perpetrated across England during the mid-70s, culminating in the kidnapping and death of a 17-year old girl. Told with uncommon accuracy and refraining from any measure of sensationalism, this fascinating and disturbing film fell foul of a media-driven campaign upon its original cinema release which resulted in an effective ban.

Each film boasts at least one huge star from this era: Bela Lugosi in "Mark of the Vampire" (1935), Boris Karloff and Myrna Loy in "Mask of Fu Manchu" (1932), Lionel Atwill and Fay Wray in "Doctor X" (1932), Humphrey Bogart in "Return of Doctor X" (1939), Peter Lorre in "Mad Love" (1935), and Lionel Barrymore and Maureen O'Sullivan in "The Devil Doll" (1936).

Wonderfully mounted dark morality fable told in a pseudo comic fashion has Paul Naschy essaying one of the best and most impertinent roles of his vast career. A classic in every sense of the word, the production is exemplary in acting, script, photography, soundtrack and overall execution. A must see not only for its artistic merits, but its qualities in displaying a masterful side of Spain's most famous horror export.
