Ride The Rhythm is the 1989 debut album by rapper Chill Rob G. He was a part of Queen Latifah's Flavor Unit and became a success with his songs "Court Is Now In Session" and "Let Me Show You." His voice became famous when his lyric "it's gettin' kinda hectic" was sampled by Snap in the hit song "The Power". Because of its success, Rob decided to remix the song Snap had taken it from, used a similar backing song to "The Power" and make it into his own hit. Chill Rob G. remained quiet until releasing a follow-up 11 years later. He hasn't been heard from in 15 years.

The Top 100 '80s Rock Albums span a series of genres as startling and varied as the era's neon-flecked fashions. No one was immune to the early-decade emergence of new wave, from up-and-coming acts to legacy groups – many of whom began incorporating the then-new sound into their bedrock approach.Meanwhile, classic rock and subsequently metal began a transformation into mass acceptance when the edges were smoothed out to form arena rock and hair metal, respectively. The arrival of roots, thrash, and world music influences kept things interesting, along the way. All of it made selecting the period's best releases both intriguing and deeply challenging.Check out the list below, as Ultimate Classic Rock takes a chronological look at the Top 100 '80s Rock Albums.
Johnny Mathis - The Christmas Music Of Johnny Mathis: A Personal Collection (1993)

Label: Columbia/Legacy (USA) | Cat.# CK 57194 | Released: 1993-10-05

"The Christmas Music of Johnny Mathis: A Personal Collection" contains 14 highlights culled from the many holiday albums Johnny Mathis recorded for Columbia records over the years. Even though the collection spans several decades, it's remarkably consistent because Mathis' style stayed essentially the same, no matter what the current fads may have been. Also, the collection is strong simply because the compilers have selected many great performances, including "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas," "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," "Silver Bells" and "Sleigh Ride." It comes close to being the definitive Mathis Christmas compilation, even if it's not necessarily the definitive Mathis Christmas album.

Classic Rock, Boogie Rock, Blues-Rock | Label: Rhino | # R2 70895 | Time: 01:08:30

Much more than the usual greatest-hits package, Collection is a well-thought-out compilation of the very best tracks of Edgar Winter's career. Obviously, his radio hits are here. "Frankenstein," "Free Ride," and "Hangin' Around" were all staples of mid-'70s AM radio. But Rhino Records doesn't kick this set off with any of the "hits," choosing to rock things up with a track from Edgar Winter's White Trash, "Give It Everything You've Got," before moving into the mellow blues of "Easy Street," highlighted by Winter's jazzy saxophone work. Also included are the excellent antiwar ballad "Dying to Live" and the melodic and catchy "Diamond Eyes" and "Round and Around." All in all, this is a definitive buffet of Winter, but don't let that stop you from sampling the original platters.
