It’s back. The debut album that blew up the ’90s blues scene. The songs that announced the touchdown of a major new talent. In modern times, as an established solo star and former member of the globally acclaimed Royal Southern Brotherhood, Mike Zito’s reputation precedes him. But turn back the clocks. Rewind the film reels. Slip through the wormhole to 1998, when a 27-year-old punk kid took his first shot in the studio. “Blue Room,” he reflects, “is the beginning of me becoming an artist.” By 1998, Zito had been around the block. Raised at the sharp end in St. Louis, Missouri, he’d witnessed the lean years of the ’70s, as his father – a union employee at the local Anheuser-Busch brewery – grafted to support five kids in a cramped apartment.

Shady Bug - Lemon Lime (2019)  Music

Shady Bug - Lemon Lime (2019)
Alternative Rock | 00:32:54 | WEB FLAC (tracks) | 205 MB
Label: Pias America

Few bands can master the loud - quiet - loud dynamic, and even fewer as effectively as Shady Bug. The young St. Louis based four-piece doesnt just utilize contrast, they revel in it. Lemon Lime, the bands appropriately titled full-length, is a sweet and sharp sonic confection, each song a push and pull of jagged distortion and beautiful melody thats impossible to deny. It takes their brand of noisy, dynamic guitar pop and twists it into new directions. The album opens with a wall of explosive fuzz that brilliantly shifts to a shimmering verse of interwoven guitars and Hannah Raineys warm voice. Throughout the 9 tracks it becomes a stunning display that perfectly captures the effortless balance of sheer beauty and unhinged discord at which Shady Bug excels, and it makes something very clear: Lemon Lime isnt your average pedal-stomping indie rock album, its lightning in a bottle.

It was the logical extension of two of the most important and enduring pop music tributaries of the 1960s – the girl group sound and the garage band explosion, respectively – but the distaff garage rock scene has earned precious little documentation on record or in history books over the years. Romulan's long-running Girls in the Garage series has done much to rectify that oversight, however, compiling an astounding amount of prime crunch – the first CD volume in the series is also its strongest, adding 11 tracks to the 16 that made up the original vinyl. Like all garage collections, there are equal amounts killer and filler, and the joy of discovery is alone worth the price of admission – Denise & Co.'s "Boy, What Will You Do Then," the Belles' "Come Back," and Lydia Marcelle's "The Girl He Needs" are top-shelf by any standard, however, and the Continental Co-Ets' blistering instrumental "Melody of Junk" dismisses once and for all any lingering misconceptions that the girls couldn't rock as hard as the boys.

Peter Mergener & Software - Collection (1984 - 2007)  Music

Peter Mergener is one of the artists you might like to refer to if you want to prove that the music business is unfair. His first formation Software was musically equally groundbreaking as German compatriots Tangerine Dream and their 80s output possibly better than that of direct inspiration Klaus Schulze. Still, even though they did manage to become an underground sensation, their music never made it to those big concert halls and only occasionly to the radio. After the breakup of his band, Mergener continued as an acclaimed solo artist, who again won the hearts of a dedicated group of music lovers with a prolific body of works. It would be well deserved, for if you haven't heard of Peter Mergener, you haven't heard of electronic music!
