Volker Bertelmann, also known as Hauschka, is an Academy Award-nominated composer, pianist and experimental musician. In 2016, Bertelmann collaborated with Dustin O'Halloran on the score for Garth Davis' Lion, which was nominated for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA for Best Original Score. Since then, he has gone on to score numerous film and TV projects, among which Baltasar Kormákur's Adrift (2018), HBO mini-series Gunpowder (2018) and Showtime's Emmy-nominated TV series Patrick Melrose. Bertelmann is set to score the upcoming feature The Art of Racing in the Rain, based on the best-selling novel by Garth Stein.

Milan Records will release the official soundtrack album for the biblical drama Mary Magdalene. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hildur Guðnadóttir (Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Strong Island) and Jóhann Jóhannsson (Arrival, The Theory of Everything, Sicario, Prisoners). The soundtrack will be released digitally overseas, March 23. Mary Magdalene is directed by Garth Davis (Lion) and stars Rooney Mara, Joaquin Phoenix, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Tahar Rahim. The movie tells the story of Mary, a young woman in search of a new way of living, who defies her traditional family to join a new social movement led by the charismatic Jesus of Nazareth and soon finds a place for herself within the movement and at the heart of a journey that will lead to Jerusalem. The drama was released in several European markets earlier this month. No word yet on a domestic release date.

Deutsche Grammophon have announced the signing of Oscar-nominated, Emmy-winning, pianist and composer Dustin O’Halloran. He will release a new EP, Sundoor, on vinyl and digitally, on 8 November 2019. Dustin O’Halloran’s Sundoor will feature a single 20-minute piece entitled ‘196 Hz’, adapted from a 2017 site-specific composition for cross-disciplinary American artist Slater Bradley’s Sundoor At World’s End – an installation at the Church of Mary Magdalene in Venice, Italy, during the Venice Biennale. A new album, which will be his first solo studio album since 2011’s acclaimed Lumiere, will be released in 2020.
