Living in The Age of Airplanes

Intrada is proud to announce the premiere CD release of James Horner's score for the 2015 documentary Living in the Age of Airplanes. Horner was passionate about flying and loved to score the subject of aviation. Having previously scored the documentaries First in Flight and The Fourth Horseman, not to mention films with flying as a central theme such as The Rocketeer, Horner gravitated to the subject and poured his heart into it. One can hear Horner's very soul soaring through his music. Through a beautiful melding of wordless vocals, electronics and orchestra, Horner takes the listener on a musical journey, around the world, through time, and into the air above the clouds.

Living in the Age of Airplanes is a story about how the airplane has changed the world. Filmed in 18 countries across all 7 continents, it renews our appreciation for one of the most extraordinary and awe-inspiring aspects of the modern world.

One of the most eccentric figures in the New German Cinema, Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man) has been characterized as the “romantic visionary” of the movement as well as its most notorious selfpromoter who possesses an almost legendary need to confront danger in making his films. Through his well documented production difficulties - dragging a ship over a mountain, attempting to film the eruption of a volcano, hypnotizing an entire cast on set and Herzog’s obsession with quasi-mystical images and landscapes, it is not surprising that many consider his “documentaries” to be his best work.
