This two-fer compiles Lou Christie's LPs for the Roulette label. His self-titled debut introduces a singer and songwriter of uncommon substance. Where other teen idols swooned over puppy love, Christie explored the ugly twists and turns of the male psyche with depth and honesty, unleashing the operatic intensity of his potent falsetto to articulate emotions long verboten in popular music. Compare the facile drama of covers like Maurice Williams' "Stay" and Little Anthony's "Tears on My Pillow" to Christie-penned hits like "The Gypsy Cried" and "Two Faces Have I." The latter songs travel into dark, disturbing terrain where no one else dared go, exploring romantic turmoil in explicitly adult terms.

On Paint America Love, Lou collaborated with Twyla "The Gipsy" Herbert and Bubblegum maestro Tony Romeo to provide a lush, near-definitive statement of American Pop… a must-have for anyone who has a heart! You know, 1971 might just be THE top pop year. A lot of people would probably go for 1966 or '67 or even '77 as the ultimate vintage year for Rock and Pop but today we're sticking with 1971

At long last, a CD full of the falsetto pop king’s wonderful Columbia recordings – including all the singles and 15 previously unreleased masters. Lou Christie’s four-octave range is one of the most exciting and readily identifiable sounds of 1960s pop. He scored international successes with ‘The Gypsy Cried’, ‘Two Faces Have I’ (both 1963), ‘Lightnin’ Strikes’, ‘Rhapsody In The Rain’ (both 1966) and ‘I’m Gonna Make You Mine’ (1969), before cutting one of his most enduring songs, ‘Beyond The Blue Horizon’, in 1973. He would go on to release duets with Pia Zadora and Lesley Gore, record the beloved eco-concept album “Paint America Love”, and even make one of the earliest rap records with 1981’s ‘Guardian Angels’.

Christie was a relatively unknown band from England that had the hit song "Yellow River" in 1970. No relation to the '60s American pop idol Lou Christie, this band managed to release one obscure album in North America on the Epic label in the same year. This collection represents the reissue of that album in its entirety along with detailed liner notes about the band.

Live stage performance of Lou Reed's 1973 album, recorded at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn, New York over five nights in 2007. When it was first released, 'Berlin', Reed's third solo outing, received a critical mauling, especially since it followed his earlier triumph, 'Transformer', with its hit single 'Walk On The Wild Side'…

Australian three CD set. Bubblegum is a genre of Pop music whose classic period ran from 1967 to 1972. The song lyrics often concern romantic love, but are notable for their frequent reference to sugary food, including sugar, honey, jelly and marmalade. This triple disc set features the finest in pure, unadulterated Bubblegum fun and includes tracks from 1910 Fruitgum Company, Bay City Rollers, Edison Lighthouse, Christie, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, Mungo Jerry, Ohio Express, Lou Christie, The Osmonds and, of course, The Archies.
