Swedish post-metal heroes Cult Of Luna return, with a little help from Mark Lanegan…
Cult Of Luna don’t do anything by halves. From their breath-taking collaboration with Julie Christmas, Mariner, to the full-on industrial assault of Vertikal, when these Swedes put their mind to something the end result is always monstrously huge. It’s with this in mind that of course the first release from their brand new record label, Red Creek, would be their very own EP - aptly named The Raging River.
For those that remember the ferocious return to their post-hardcore roots that encompassed 2019’s A Dawn to Fear, this latest dispatch won’t feel too unfamiliar…

Finnish singer TarjaTurunen is one of the most well known heavy metal soprano singers and one of the most important female voices and faces in metal music. No other voice and artist influenced and basically created the female fronted symphonic metal genre as much as Tarja. A pioneer in goth and symphonic metal, the classically trained Finn rose to fame with the band Nightwish, whose face and voice she had been for 9 years. With a vocal range of a lyrical soprano, Tarja started her solo career in 2004. Releasing three very successful metal rock solo albums (2007, 2010, 2013), awarded gold and platinum in multiple countries, Tarja has been constantly touring the world with her live band. Adored by many fans as their Goddess , the Finnish Soprano has the skill to carry her fans away just by her presence probably more than any other female artist in this genre. When classic meets rock and heavy metal, it inevitably leads to Tarja. In 2015 Tarja issued her third live album, Luna Park Ride, which was recorded in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
"A La Luna" presents the delicate, naive yet deep sound of Woo across a long form album that invites you on a curious journey of discovery. With a melodic instinct bordering on exotica, and unique range of instruments in the sound palette and a dreamlike approach to processing, there's nothing out there that sounds quite like Woo, and as ever it's a joy to delve into their sound world and leave more earthly familiarities behind.
