Lunar Landing

In July 1969 the ‘amiable strangers’ that made up the crew of the historic Apollo 11 flight successfully achieved the first manned lunar landing. Several months later, three close friends set off on an even more challenging mission. Free of the burden of making history, the Apollo 12 astronauts were determined to really enjoy their experience while taking care of business.

For All Mankind is a 1989 documentary film documenting the Apollo missions of NASA. It was directed by Al Reinert. The film provides 80 minutes of real NASA footage, taken on the Apollo missions of the 1960s and 1970s.

To celebrate the Apollo moon landing's 50th anniversary, Professor Brian Cox and Dara O Briain travel to where the historic Apollo 11 mission began – Cape Canaveral in Florida. They hear first hand from astronaut general Charlie Duke what it was like to guide Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the surface of the Moon in the Lunar Lander and how he followed in their footsteps three years later. They also look at the most exciting new developments and, with privileged access, they broadcast from the top of launch tower that is being prepared for crewed missions and from the assembly line of a spacecraft factory.

Apollo 11's lunar module nearly killed Neil Armstrong during training, and some believe this close-call could explain a conspiracy to fake the moon landing. A team of experts investigate if dangers that the Apollo 11 crew faced were motive for a cover-up.
