M83 announces the details of his new forthcoming full-length album, FANTASY, that will see release on March 17th. In addition to this news, M83 has shared the sweeping, transformative first cut “Oceans Niagara”. Accompanying the track is a video directed by his long-time creative collaborator, filmmaker (Knife + Heart, You And The Night) and brother Yann Gonzalez.

Before the Dawn Heals Us is M83's follow-up to the 2003 international breakthrough Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts. If you're noticing a trend toward drifting album titles, that's deliberate - M83 mastermind Anthony Gonzalez loves crafting antigravity masterpieces of layered and meandering synthesizers. He's also the principal player on Dawn, with previous collaborator Nicolas Fromageau having moved into solo work. Left to his own devices, Gonzalez has made a more cohesive record than Dead Cities. As nice as they were, that album's synthesized soundscapes tended to drift into a foggy territory between Boards of Canada and Tangerine Dream…

M83 released soundtrack for the French horror film Knife + Heart, which doubles as a reunion for original members Anthony Gonzalez and Nicolas Fromageau, marking their first collaboration since 2003’s Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts. M83 is frequently thought of as a solo effort by Gonzalez. However, Fromageau helped co-found the group in 2001 and remained active during their first few years before he eventually left to form his own band Team Ghost. The forthcoming work marks the French electropop duo’s first collaboration since Fromageau’s final record with the band in 2003, Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts. It also follows up M83’s last studio album, 2016’s Junk, and serves as the project’s third soundtrack to date.
