Madness

After a disparate couple of years which saw the band at their most polarised and fragmented, Madness reunited in an industrial unit in Cricklewood at the beginning of the year, where Suggs, Mark, Chrissy Boy, Mike, Lee and Woody realised that what united them was always bigger than what divided them. Emerging re-energised and reinvigorated with a fresh bounce in their nutty step, the result was their most harmonious recording experience to date. For the first time ever, a brand new album came into the world that they were all completely agreed on. Theatre Of The Absurd Presents C’est La Vie is the band's inaugural foray into self producing, working alongside engineer and mixer Matt Glasbey (Ed Sheeran, Maisie Peters, Rag’N’Bone Man).

The Liberty of Norton Folgate is the ninth studio album from Madness and widely considered to be their magnum opus. Originally released in May 2009, and taking nearly three years to make, the record was the first with the full band since 1999's Wonderful and was developed as a concept album about the band's home town. The ten minute long title track tells the history of a part of East London (Norton Folgate, near Spitalfields) which, for a period, remained free from the Crown's ruling and was therefore referred to as a 'liberty', where normal rules of city life did not apply. The album finds the band in full creative flow, with song after song (including the tracks that didn't make it onto the standard CD or LP release) showcasing the maturity and depth of their songwriting prowess. Includes the singles 'NW5', 'Dust Devil' 'Forever Young' and 'Sugar and Spice'. This extended 2CD version contains nine bonus tracks, including two cover tracks ('Bittersweet' and 'The Roadette Song').

Part of the late-1970's 2-tone ska revival, Madness have enjoyed huge chart success, including spending 214 weeks in the British charts during the Eighties, more than any other artist. Hailing from Camden, North London; Madness became internationally known after the 1982 single 'Our House', which later inspired the musical of the same name, based around Madness songs. Ska legends announce first album in 7 years, drop new song C'est La Vie. Madness will release their 13th studio album, 'Theatre Of the Absurd Presents C’est La Vie', in November.

Madness’ 2012 album Oui Oui, Si Si, Ja Ja, Da Da is to be reissued as a deluxe 2CD set in May. The Nutty Boys’ 11th studio outing followed three years after the ‘comeback’ album, that was The Liberty of Norton Folgate, and boasted cover art by Peter Blake (featuring rejected album names crossed out). This new 2CD deluxe (a digipak presentation) features 11 bonus tracks which didn’t appear on the original CD but were included on the 3CD+DVD deluxe issued in 2013. The nine band demos and the live content from that package are also absent.

Critically acclaimed ninth album from the popular ska legends which achieved a top five chart position. Taking the title from an area in London, this is the first album of original material that the band has released since 1999 and contains the single 'Dust Devil'. Two CD set. Original soundtrack to the 2018 documentary about Madness saxophonist Lee Thompson. Includes tracks from Madness, Crunch, 'Thommosina Leigh', Ian Dury, and the Lee Thompson Ska Orchestra. Lee "Kix" Thompson is a most unlikely character. Early career choices had him spend a year in a detention center. He still hasn't found the receipt for his first saxophone. Luckily, he met two other unlikely characters: Mike Barso Barson and Chrissy Boy Foreman who shared his interests of graffiti, train hopping and music.
