In November 2019, an opera sensation was to be experienced at the Leverkusen Erholungshaus: 232 years after its creation, a comic opera was premiered with "Scherz, List und Rache" (Joke, Cunning and Revenge), for which no one less than Johann Wolfgang von Goethe had written the libretto. The music for it came from Goethe's childhood friend Philipp Christoph Kayser (1755-1823). Inspired by the Italian buffo opera, Goethe and Kayser wanted to create a new kind of German opera with "Scherz, List und Rache". The result was a turbulent three-person play about a young married couple who were cheated out of their inheritance by an old money-hungry doctor.In 2019 it was conductor Werner Ehrhardt and his ensemble l'arte del mondo who performed this opera rarity for the first time in its original instrumentation for large orchestra. Annika Boos, Cornel Frey and Florian Götz took over the vocal parts peppered with virtuoso passages. This is the world premiere recording of the singspiel in co-production with WDR and Bayer Arts & Culture

Die aus Atlanta stammende Industrial-Soul-Urgewalt Algiers,die mittlerweile nicht nur gesangstechnisch zu einer starken Stimme geworden ist, hatte bereits im September mit dem Non-Album-Track Can The Sub Bass Speak? ein viel diskutiertes und meinungsstarkes Slam-Poetry Stück veröffentlicht , dem nun ein nicht minder pointierter Nachfolger folgt. Das zweite Album, The Underside Of Power von 2017, hatte der Band bei Publikum wie Kritikern zum endgültigen Durchbruch verholfen.

A well-known Dutch house remixer (though he claims his work is more geared to genuine cover versions because of the re-recording process he embarks on), Liebrand recorded in his own right in the 90s with ‘Eve Of The War’ and ‘Black Belly’. His remixes include high-profile work for Phil Collins and Hot Chocolate. Within a more conventional dance format he also produced the Crystal Palace featuring CP’s ‘Son Of Godzilla’. His solo album featured British vocalist Carol Kenyon (of Heaven 17’s ‘Temptation’ fame) and rapper Toni Scott. ‘I’ve always enjoyed being a bit in the background’, he maintained. His chart successes include Jeff Lynne’s ‘Eve Of The War’, Bill Withers’ ‘Lovely Day’, Phil Collins’ ‘In The Air Tonight’, Vangelis’ ‘Puls(t)ar’ and the Ram Jam Band’s ‘Black Berry’. All were created originally for his own radio show on Radio Veronica in Holland.
