The ‘Morenn’ project is the result of the meeting between Xavier Boderiou, Sylvain Barou and Jacques Pellen around the classical music of the Great Highland Bagpipes. This kind of music is usually played solo. The challenge was to mix bagpipes (Xavier Boderiou), flute (Sylvain Barou) and guitars (Jacques Pellen). his unique project combines these three instruments with a hint of experimental music around a centennial repertoire. The result is surprising, nebulous, vague…Morenn.

Erik Chisholm is a Scottish-born composer and friend of Bartók whose music has experienced a substantial revival. It's not quite correct to call him a Scottish composer, for the last two decades of his life were spent outside Scotland (mostly in South Africa), and Scottish nationalism is only one of the unique mix of influences in his music. It's not that he's "eclectic" in the modern sense.

Before embarking on the Constantinople journey, Christos Hatzis and the members of the Gryphon Trio envisioned a work that would take chamber music in new directions and bring it to audiences far beyond its traditional realm. The Trio was intrigued by the composer’s ability to utilize the musical sounds and textures of diverse world cultures in his own music. The composer and members of the Gryphon Trio also shared an interest in exploring the connection between music, movement and visual imagery with collaborators from other artistic disciplines.

Fact finding in judicial proceedings is a dynamic process. This collection of papers considers whether computational methods or other formal logical methods developed in disciplines such as artificial intelligence, decision theory, and probability theory can facilitate the study and management of dynamic evidentiary and inferential processes in litigation. The papers gathered here have several epicenters, including (i) the dynamics of judicial proof, (ii) the relationship between artificial intelligence or formal analysis and "common sense," (iii) the logic of factual inference, including (a) the relationship between causality and inference and (b) the relationship between language and factual inference, (iv) the logic of discovery, including the role of abduction and serendipity in the process of investigation and proof of factual matters, and (v) the relationship between decision and inference.

This compilation reflects on a golden age of traditional music in Scotland, a country with a thriving musical history, where music-making is again endemic in a new generation. Fiddler Aly Bain and accordionist Phil Cunningham, known throughout Scotland simply as ‘Phil & Aly’, are among a very small number of traditional musicians who have become household names, breaking into the mainstream with their exquisite folk music and opening doors for others.
