For a musician like Tony Clarkin who composes constantly, viewing and selecting the material he has written is always one of the most significant moments during the creation process of a new Magnum album. On the one hand it s a luxury to have the opportunity to separate the wheat from the chaff and to be in a position to use only the strongest numbers.

Georgian composer Giya Kancheli is often pigeonholed as a "holy minimalist," blood brother to such practitioners as Arvo Pärt and John Taverner. While sharing the spiritual searchings of those two through the medium of music, Kancheli's art retains a distinctive profile, as evidenced by the two works on this stimulating disc. Simi explores the multicolored cello of Rostropovich, whose halting, otherworldly lines intersect with orchestral comments that range from sympathetic sound cushions to abrupt interruptions.

In early 1993 there were talks between MAGNUM and their first record label Jet Records who wanted to issue a compilation of older songs. When the band had stormed the charts there had already been compilations galore. All former record companies were busily issuing them or selling the rights to other labels without the band being involved at any stage. None of these was really interesting for the fans because they didn't offer anything new. However, this time the band agreed to cooperate with Jet and supplied rare and previously unreleased songs.

Keeping The Nite Light Burning is an acoustic studio album by the English rock band Magnum, released in 1993 by Jet Records. Inspired by MTV Unplugged, Tony Clarkin liked the idea or rearranging some of their older material, with an acoustic and contemporary style. He stripped down arrangements, changed timing and expanded with a horn section and a cello to achieve reggae, blues, jazz, a cappella and soul-elements into Magnum's new sound.

Chase the Dragon is the third studio album by the English rock band Magnum. It was released in 1982 on Jet Records. Overseen by the Kansas producer Jeff Glixman, Chase the Dragon was the first recorded appearance by the new keyboard player Mark Stanway, although he had made his live debut at Magnum's appearance at the Reading Festival in 1980. The album was recorded over 13 days at Town House Studios in London, and the following year Tony Clarkin flew to Axis Studios in Atlanta to mix it. However, there was a two-year delay before the album's release in 1982.
