A priest, Sven, and his wife Anna live in a lonely vicarage in northern Sweden. Anna has been suffering from nervous trouble. With them lives her "self-sacrificing" friend Hedvig. Hedvig is a complicated character. At first sight she exposes dark sides. She has sworn her self to the devil, by carving a bloody cross onto her body.
Takes place in a wealthy household and unveils the erotic rivalry between an aristocratic but sterile wife (Ingrid Thulin) and her feisty and prolific maid-servant (Anita Ekstroem) as they compete over the affections of the husband (Ernst-Hugo Jaeregaard). Set in 1909, it also explores the frustrations the servant experiences in her attempts to get her real boyfriend to abandon his socialist principles and marry her.
Dödsfärd is the third studio album release by Viking metal band Månegarm. It was released in 2003. The word dödsfärd translates roughly as "journey of death" in Swedish. All lyrics by Wilhelmsson except "Ravenous" by Almquist, "Pagan War" by M. Svanborg, and "Fimbultrollet", who is an old swedish tale. Recorded, mixed & produced by Pelle Säther & Månegarm at Underground Studio in the two first weeks in October 2002… with some recording assistance by Lasse & Johan. Mastered at Tailor Maid Production.
In turn-of-the-century Sweden, cancer-stricken, dying Agnes is visited in her isolated rural mansion by her sisters Karin and Maria. As Agnes' condition deteriorates and pain management becomes increasingly more difficult, fear and revulsion grip the sisters, who seem incapable of empathy, and Agnes' only comfort and solace comes from her maid Anna. As the end draws closer, long repressed feelings of grudging resentment and mistrust cause jealousy, selfishness, and bitterness between the siblings to surface.
