Malawski

Having sustained an injury to his left hand, Artur Malawski had to abandon his career as a virtuoso violinist and went on to become a successful teacher and composer in his native Poland.

Małgorzata Wasiucionek-Potera A graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warszaw, where she received a degree with honors in the studio of Prof. Roman Lasocki, Małgorzata Wasiucionek has also trained with Pierre Amoyal at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg. Having begun her musical education in Jelenia Góra under the tutelage of Ludmiła Sołowiewicz, Wasiucionek now holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and is an assistant professor (adiunkt) at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. She also teaches violin performance at the Karol Szymanowski State Music Secondary School in Katowice.

Many volumes have already been written about the Polishness of Chopin’s music and about his influence on composers of various nationalities active in the Romantic and later periods.

The Cracow Wind Quintet perform a programme of works by Zemlinksy, Gorecki, Lukaszewski, Malawski, Debski and Milhaud. The artists on this album have performed at almost all prestigious music festivals in Poland and have been met with an enthusiastic reception by the audience and to great critical acclaim. Each of them is a laureate of a number of music competitions. They met while working with the Krakow chamber orchestra Capella Cracoviensis.
